"The concert of David Rosenboom was a dream come true concert that was able to take place thanks to the collaboration of DePlayer, CafeOto and les ateliers claus. It became a memorable concert with a little stress beforehand as David Rosenboom got robbed on a train in Rotterdam hours prior to the concert in Brussels. The rest of the day we went looking for all the missing pieces of the puzzle in order to let David Rosenboom perform the concert the way he wanted to. Please check the notes of the night itself + per track David Rosenboom wrote the notes."
"This concert was presented at Les Ateliers Claus with a 6.2 sound system using unique, quasi-3D sound diffusion algorithms written by the composer-performer. The result was captured in multi-channel recordings that have been rendered here in stereo in a way that hopefully preserves at least hints of the original, immersive sound environment." "Akio Suzuki and Aki Onda came to perform les ateliers claus mid March 2015, which we remember very well. Our venue was made as empty as possible so the artists have a maximum amount of space to perform, but also the electricity was cut in all places where possible. Total silence and darkness was obtained for a maximum amount of intensity. The audience surrounded Akio Suzuki and Aki Onda - while they used the surroundings for their sounds.
Both Akio Suzuki and Aki Onda live at least one ocean away from les ateliers claus, but we consider them as a part of our home."---

Alkisah is the new album by Indonesian duo Senyawa. Alkisah is co-released by a multitude of independent record labels from all over the globe each with different packaging and design, with multiple version of remixes by various artists.Senyawa is an experimental music duo with Rully Shabara (extended vocal technique) and Wukir Suryadi (homemade instrument). The music that they create is a combination of extended vocal technique and a homemade instrument. The instrument was handcrafted by master instrument builder Wukir out of one long piece of bamboo, it is a string instrument with guitar pick-ups—it is amplified and processed through several effects pedals but at times is played as an acoustic instrument, percussion and string instrument. They are located in the ancient city of Jogjakarta, Central Java, Indonesia and their music is a reflection of their traditional Javanese heritage filtered through a framework of contemporary experimental music practices. Senyawa try to push the boundaries of both traditions in an attempt to mix the musics’ of the east and the west to create a new sound.

"Native Instrument came to play les ateliers claus in October 2017. Their project is a sound collaboration bringing together the field recording archive of Felicity Mangan and the abstract vocabulary of Stine Janvin. Their music is built from electronic and vocal adaptations of animal and insect recordings originating mainly from the Australian and North European fauna. The organic mix of bug beats and atmospheric soundscapes uncover a sonic ambiguity between rural nature, electronics and the human voice, creating a peculiar, mellow insect techno."---Recorded and mastered by Christophe Albertijn.

"Le fruit vert (can) came to play les ateliers claus October 2017. That same night Eloïse Decazes (fr) & Eric Chenaux (can) also performed as a duo and made the line-up a tribute to the Swiss label Three:Four records.
Le fruit vert presented an aural paradise and meditations that hang in balance with every moment of silence. They take detailed care over every note and present a meditation on sound and feeling. The music of Le fruit vert exists in a gray area between anonymity and familiarity. It’s a technique that binds their music tightly to emotional vulnerability as they poke at the human condition, always with cheer and curiosity galore."

1. Siesta Blanca (White Siesta) - 1972 - In Memoriam Astor PiazzollaFor Siesta Blanca I chose excerpts from Astor Piazzolla’s tangos and recorded sounds of an electronic organ. After transformation, these sounds could materialize the extreme sensation of cold and heat.
2. L'Autre ... ou le chant des marécages - 1987I was deeply impressed with Blaise Cendrars’s paradoxical personality, his terrifying « Double » which strips itself with an naked extreme and sadistic cruelty in his book « Moravagine, It was impossible for me not to record the depth of my feelings in a brutal and wild vocal composition
3. L’autre rive – 2007Inspired by the Bardo Todol (The tibetan book of death) this piece have been composed with percussions and some electroacoustic sounds."

"Michael Hurley came to play les ateliers claus early May 2013. A few days prior to the concert Michael flew into Brussels. For reasons - lets say unknown - Michael wasn’t picked up at the airport and tried to make his way to a hotel. There’s was no connection with Michael and we had no clue where he was. Nobody had. He went missing until a few hours prior to the concert.
Michael Hurley showed up - not very happy - telling us how he missed his pickup and checked into a random hotel. For some reason Michael managed to book himself a room in one of the shabbiest hotel - restaurants in Brussels. Happy to be amongst people and fans again, Michael played a long set, just not enjoying enough wine to forget about his lonesome adventure.
We gave number 13 with this reason to Michael Hurley."

"Sugai Ken came to perform at les ateliers claus early April 2018 to present his 5th studio album called UkabazUmerezU. The album title could be translated as 'slow and steady wins the race'. Sugai's reference for traditional folklore becomes an intimate, liminal ceremony of interpretative music and an invitation for the open mind to wander a wild nighttime with curious characters and strange, serene sounds."

"Bitchin Bajas came to play les ateliers claus May 2018. During this tour they were robbed twice, so the gear they're playing on at les ateliers claus is not their usual stuff. A mutated Bitchin Bajas.
Keep on flowing Bajas, so chill and pretty. Next-man expansions of the walls and bridges of our sonics universe, synthesizing amidst a separate but also growing ecosystem. Bitchin Bajas is a band formed by by Cooper Crain, Dan Quinlivan and Rob Frye."

"Live recording from Keiji Haino his concert at les ateliers claus on 7th October 2019 - Brussels, Belgium
We all know Keiji Haino as a legendary musician and it's always a special experience to host him. The day prior to his concert at les ateliers claus, he came to Brussels and expressed his wish to do some record shopping. And so we did - in between soundcheck and the actual concert. Keiji Haino likes to hear unique sounds and performers and so we went on a search. In a certain store in Brussels I made him listen to one of my favourite albums by Igor Wakhevitch (Hator) - he listened and promised me half-jokingly his performance at les ateliers claus would be better."

"In January 2018 we hosted the legendary drummer, artist, musician, person: Han Bennink. Together with him we planned 3 varied evenings. For the first evening his central guest was the notorious and also legendary guitarist Roland Van Campenhout."
Roland Van Campenhout or in short Roland (Boom, 1945) is a Belgian blues musician.Roland grew up in the Rupel area. His father, a jazzmusician, drowned when he was 5. Roland left home at the age of 14. He did not get involved with music until the age of 20. He played in the skifflegroup, the William & Roland Skiffle Group, and the folk duo Miek en Roel. In 1969 he changed to another genre: blues, while also still experimenting with other styles during his career such as country, worldmusic, folk and rock. Roland discovered this genre when he saw John Lee Hooker perform in café De Muze in Antwerpen. He broke through during Jazz Bilzen, where he established his reputation as a live artist.
Han Bennink (born 17 April 1942) is a Dutch jazz drummer and percussionist. On occasion his recordings have featured him playing clarinet, violin, banjo and piano. Though perhaps best known as one of the pivotal figures in early European free jazz and free improvisation, Bennink has worked in essentially every school of jazz, and is described by critic Chris Kelsey as "one of the unfortunately rare musicians whose abilities and interests span jazz's entire spectrum." Known for often injecting slapstick and absurdist humor into his performances, Bennink has had especially fruitful long-term partnerships with pianist Misha Mengelberg and saxophonist Peter Brötzmann. Han is a brother of saxophonist Peter Bennink.
