Pleased to welcome back musician, writer and filmmaker, Sunik Kim - whose 'The bent bow must wait to be released' was a highlight of our Tauroku series, alongside OTO favourites XT, aka the duo of Paul Abbott and Seymour Wright.
Sunik Kim is a musician, writer and filmmaker currently based in Los Angeles. Her recent work attempts to unfold problems of perceptual and temporal distortion through computer-generated sound. Her writing on subjects ranging from Korean communism to Conlon Nancarrow has been featured in The Wire Magazine, Pitchfork, Bandcamp Daily, Tone Glow and elsewhere. Her latest album, Formenverwandler, was released in 2025.
Drawing from her extensive research on composer Conlon Nancarrow, Formenverwandler sees Kim exploring the time or tempo canon, which can pull and project the listener's senses, melting the temporal and spatial perception of presented sounds. As in previous works such as 2022’s Raid on the White Tiger Regiment and 2023’s Potential, Kim deploys patches and tools she has designed for SuperCollider, which take raw, utilitarian General MIDI notes and multiply and spray them into frenetic webs and networks of spiraling sound.
Paul Abbott is a musician and drummer. He plays with real and imaginary drums, synthetic sounds, performance and writing.

Paul has performed at venues and festivals internationally. He was a co-founder and co-editor of Cesura//Acceso journal for music, politics and poetics, and resident artist at Cafe OTO 2015 & 2023.
Recent releases include: Slip; Strata, Act (Joy Contemporary)*; YESYESSPEAKERSYES; Knees, Elbow Bag; Deorlaf X; Fugitive Equation and very good*.
Seymour Wright is a saxophonist. His work is about the creative, situated friction of learning, ideas, people and the saxophone – music, history and technique – actual and potential.
Seymour's solo music is documented on three widely-acclaimed collections - Seymour Wright of Derby (2008), Seymour Writes Back (2015) and Is This Right? (2017).
