ONGAKU night presents:
An alchemical mix with Japan's no. 1 performing sculptor, Ujino the rotator and London musicians Leon Michener (Piano), Hiroto Amamiya (Drums) and Taigen Kawabe (Bass guitar). There will also be an art installation tribute to Ujino by a London artist.
Ujino Muneteru
Ujino is a unique artist whos work is difficult to categorise. Widely appreciated, his exhibition at the Hayward gallery on the South Bank last year was a resounding success. His performances see him bring his sound sculptures to life.
Ujino creates sculptures and instruments out of "a homogeneous mish-mash of materials that are around everywhere and accessible to everyone - electric sockets, junk, used vinyl discs, actuators - endlessly rotating, shedding all pretence of meaning, wildly and noisily gyrating: a brilliant, 21st-Century direct descendant of Futurism, Dada, Pop-Art, and Noise-Industrial!" - Noi Sawaragi
