GAISTER is a new encounter between soprano vocalist Olivia Salvadori (Tutto Questo Sentire), drummer / percussionist Akihide Monna (Bo Ningen), and songwriter / multi-instrumentalist Coby Sey.
GAISTER strives for a collaborative approach that transcends the different experiences, languages, and musical backgrounds of the three musicians, creating a unique fusion of sound, voice, and words that is driven by musical dexterity, open-eared improvisation and conceptual rigour.
Conceived as a series of movements following the disposition to be ‘in a state of listening’, GAISTER's debut self-titled album was recorded at Greenhouse Studios in Reykjavík.
Naima Nefertari (b. 1982) is a multi-disciplinary artist and musician based in London. Her practice interweaves sonic and visual forms led by interests in repetition, improvisation, and the abstract relationships between language, symbol, image, and sound. Naima’s main instrument is the piano, as well as percussion, vibraphone, and organ. Improvisation is at the core of the artist's musical process, combined with minimalist uses of tone, arrangement, and an inherently organic approach to playing. Naima is part of the duo Exotic Sin with Kenichi Iwasa, and she is an archivist and coordinator for the Estate of Moki Cherry and Cherry Archive. Naima recently released an album with Angel Bat Dawid called Journey to Nabta Playa on Spiritmuse records, and she is an NTS radio resident with her show Fragrant Sacrifice.

Zakia is a broadcaster, writer and DJ from London with a passion for music, arts, mental health and history.
She regularly produces and presents radio documentaries and podcasts for platforms including BBC Radio 4, BBC World Service, Tate, and Boiler Room and has explored a wide range of topics, from Caribbean ancestral drumming, to schizophrenia and intergenerational trauma, to improvisation in the arts.
Alongside audio production, Zakia is an enthusiastic and respected collector and sharer of music. As a radio-host, Zakia presents her widely popular 'Dream Time' show on BBC Radio 6 Music, where each week she transports her listeners to different spaces and places with music to ease the mind and lift the spirits. Previously, Zakia hosted her beloved and long-standing 'Questing' show on NTS Radio.
