You're booked: An Anglo-German Literary Evening

With readings by Marcus du Sautoy, Patrick Neate, Thomas Klupp, Graham Joyce, Uli Hannemann, PolarBear, Florian Werner and Klaus Cäsar Zehrer and other members of the English and German Writers' Teams


According to a cliche much-beloved by football commentators, "football is a simple game: 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans win." So the England Writers' Team -- a football team made up entirely of published novelists, poets and journalists -- will do their best to avoid penalty shoot-outs as they take on their German counterparts in London on Saturday the 13th of June.

The match goes into extra-time at Cafe Oto from 8 pm. Expect nothing less than high drama, passion and stoppage-time plot twists as leading writers from both countries take the stage for a game of literary four-a-side. Award-winning novelists Graham Joyce and Patrick Neate, science writer Marcus du Sautoy and performance poet wonderkid PolarBear will represent England while the German line-up will include rising star Thomas Klupp, poet
