X▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪ T▪▪▪▪▪▪ = XT (Paul Abbott / Seymour Wright)

No Longer Available

XT is Paul Abbott and Seymour Wright.

Paul Abbott is an artist and musician based in London, working through questions and feelings connecting music, language and politics: using drums, performance, writing, and publishing.  He is currently one of the Sound and Music “Embedded” resident artists at Cafe OTO and a co-editor of Cesura//Acceso journal.

Seymour Wright is an artist, investigator and saxophonist. He lives and works in London. His inter-disciplinary work uses situated learning as the stuff of creativity – what he has called the ‘awkward wealth of investigation’.

Wright and Abbott have been collaborating for a number of years, through various group projects and intersecting solo investigations in performance, on-line and published documents. Most recently in addition to the XT project they both participate in the trio llln, with Daichi Yoshikawa.

Marking the meta-official relaunch of their digitally available album ʻAʻā’, XT animate and contrast musical and extra musical ideas.

For this extended event, during the course of an evening XT will use the limits and particulars of their instrumentation (Drums, Saxophone, technologies) as both filter and catalyst to reach into the potential futures of their project.

XT will synthesise, interrogate and reimagine the sounds, conversations and ideas that have invigorated their shared practice since 2009.

Opening possibilities of language and learning from below, XT question the specific material conditions, grammar, histories and logics of the saxophone and drum kit in a flexible, manifold process of collaboration, augmentation, bifurcation, antagonism and technological and somatic feedback.
