Unpredictable Series brings together artists from Mexico City and London for an evening of live improvisation, where sound and image are made in the same moment and nothing is fixed in advance.
In the first set, long-time collaborators and Unpredictable Series co-founders Steve Beresford and Blanca Regina bring together piano, objects, electronics, voice and visuals in a set of pure in-the-moment improvisation. Blanca's visuals were filmed in Mexico during her many trips to Oaxaca, where she has led projection mapping workshops and performances.
In the second set, Mexico City duo Piña para la Niña, saxophonist Eli Piña and double bassist Adriana Camacho, present their new album, continuing a dialogue between two generations of the city's free improvisation scene, with visuals by Pierre Bouvier Patron including his films from Mexico.
Two sets, four performers, two sets of live visuals. Everything you hear and see will be made in the room, and will never happen again.

Piña para la Niña is a free improvisation duo formed by saxophonist Eli Piña and double bassist Adriana Camacho. Since 2021 they have brought two generations of Mexico City's free jazz and free improvisation scene into a dialogue that explores identity, intimacy and the complexities of being human. Their improvisations begin from questions that are both intimate and unsettling; is everything fine at home? Clearly not ‚and move across a full spectrum of experience: tenderness, tension, humour, violence, vulnerability, uncertainty.
The duo has performed at Feria Internacional del Libro de Minerva, Cafe Jazzorca and Sesiones Barbaras, and has collaborated with figures from Mexico's improvisation scene including Jeff Platz, German Bringas and Remi Alvarez. Their music is an ongoing conversation, sometimes delicate and sometimes confrontational, where saxophone and double bass meet without predetermined answers, each performance a new negotiation between two bodies, two generations and two ways of listening.
Spanish interdisciplinary artist, audiovisual designer and educator based in London, working across live performance, projection art, installation, sound and film. For over two decades she has developed spontaneous composition systems in which image, light and sound merge into a single field, drawing on traditions of free improvisation and expanded cinema. Her collaborators include Matt Black of Coldcut, Leafcutter John, Steve Beresford, Peter Cusack, Benedict Taylor, Mandhira de Saram and Laetitia Sadier. She is founder and Director of Unpredictable Series CIC and a member of LAC at Cruce Arte Contemporaneo in Madrid. She holds a PhD cum laude in Audiovisual Performance Art from URJC Madrid, and her work has been supported by Arts Council England, the British Council, Sound & Music and the Francis Chagrin Award.
Improviser, saxophonist, clarinetist and vocalist born in Mexico City in 2000, whose practice centers on free improvisation. She treats the saxophone as both instrument and resonant object, using extended techniques, electronic processing, voice and percussive gesture to investigate the relationship between body, sound and space. She has performed across Mexico, Canada and Europe, including Suoni per il Popolo (Montreal), Pitchfork Music Festival Mexico alongside Mabe Fratti, PRIMI (Copenhagen), PanDymińska (Warsaw), Exploratorium and Sowieso (Berlin), and the Fonoteca Nacional, Casa del Lago and Jazzorca in Mexico City. Her collaborators include Mabe Fratti, Tobias Delius, Concepcion Huerta, Mia Dyberg, Ava Mendoza, Remi Alvarez and Ana Ruiz. She also works as an independent curator and producer within Mexico City's experimental music scene.

Visual artist based in London, working between digital video and analogue film and exploring the boundaries between them through moving image works, performances and installations, with a background in experimental film, expanded cinema and documentary. He presents video screenings and performances both solo and in collaboration. His work has been shown at L'Atelier MTK in France, Cruce and Proyector Festival in Spain, Café OTO and Iklectik in London, Sowieso in Berlin, Zaal100 in Amsterdam, and in Mexico.

Steve Beresford has been a central figure in the British and international spontaneous music scenes for over fifty years, freely improvising on piano, objects, electronics and other things with people like Derek Bailey, Evan Parker, Han Bennink and John Zorn. Long-standing groups have included Alterations (with David Toop, Terry Day and Peter Cusack), The Melody Four (with Lol Coxhill and Tony Coe, both RIP) and London Improvisers Orchestra.
He has written songs, composed for large and small ensembles, and scored short films, feature films, TV shows and commercials. He was part of the editorial teams of ‘Musics’ and ‘Collusion’ magazines, writes about music in various contexts, and was a senior lecturer in music at the University of Westminster.
Steve has worked with Christian Marclay on various Marclay mixed media pieces. He has also worked with The Slits, Najma Akhtar, Stewart Lee, Ivor Cutler, Prince Far-I, Alan Hacker, Tania Chen, Louis Moholo-Moholo, Faradena Afifi, Blanca Regina, Ray Davies, Mandhira De Saram, The Flying Lizards, Zeena Parkins, The Portsmouth Sinfonia, Ilan Volkov, Rachel Musson, Vic Reeves, Lore Lixenberg, Valentina Magaletti, Thurston Moore, and many others.
Beresford has an extensive discography - around 500 releases - as performer, arranger, free-improviser, composer, conductor and producer. He was awarded a Paul Hamlyn award for composers in 2012.
In 2021, Bloomsbury published a book by Andy Hamilton: ‘Pianos, Toys, Music and Noise: Conversations with Steve Beresford’.
In 2022, Siglio published the book ‘Call and Response’, which partnered photographs by Christian Marclay with notated improvisations by Beresford.
