The Paper Hats

No Longer Available

The Paper Hats is William Tyler. Deseret Canyon is the debut album of the 29 year guitarist from Nashville, Tennessee. Since finishing highschool he played and tours with Lambchop or the Silver Jews. Deseret Canyon is psychedelic Apalachian folk guitar. All instrumental.

Deseret Canyon reminds one on John Fahey: hypnotic picking folk guitar, symphonic poetry, Hawaiian slack key guitar, Indian Raga paired with noise and drones. Deseret Canyon was recorded to tape by Mark Nevers at Beech House Studio (Lambchop, Honest Jon's). Paul Niehaus (Lambchop, Calexico, Iron and Wine) is the only guest musician. Minimal as this solo project is, but Tylers music sounds like it was played by an ensemble, hence the wish to baptize his playful project like a band: "The Paper Hats".

On the European tours in 2009 to broaden the musical spectrum William Tylers musical partner is Volker Zander (Calexico, Apparent Extent*) on Violoncello and Höfner bass.

William Tyler was born into a musical family. Dad Dan Tyler is a Nashville Country songwriter with hits in the 70ties. William lives and works in Nashville, Tennessee. After Highschool he decided to make music for his life and a living. He joined Lambchop and since then is a studio session favourite in Nashvilles Off – Scene. You hear him on records playing for Bonnie Prince Billie, Cortney Tidwell, Simone White, Candi Staton and others.
