Sue Tompkins is a British visual and sound artist based in Glasgow. She is best known as vocalist for the recently reformed indie rock band Life Without Buildings. Tompkins studied painting at the Glasgow School of Art and graduated in 1994. Since 1997, she has worked collaboratively with the collective Elizabeth go (Victoria Morton, Sarah Tripp, Hayley Tompkins, and Cathy Wilkes). Sue Tompkins lives and works in Glasgow and is represented by The Modern Institute.
Seke Chimutengwende is a choreographer and improviser working professionally in the UK and abroad for 20 years. His recent choreography, It begins in darkness explores haunting and colonial legacies and his new show, The Last Quartet, imagines a “last work” or “last attempt” at choreography. Seke is concurrently researching a new choreography for six dancers set to Miles Davis’ 1972 album On The Corner. Alongside his choreographic work, Seke has been practising completely improvised performance, using movement and text, since 2006. He has performed over 80 solo improvisations internationally and has performed ensemble improvisation with numerous dancers, actors and musicians.

Anne Bean is a London-based artist, born in Zambia, workingwith sculpture, installation, sound, photography, film, video, painting and drawing. Her artistic practice has been pivotal in the development of live and performance art in the UK. Captivated by process and collaboration Bean works as the ‘space-between’ - a receiver, receptor, and conjuror. These strategies enable her to plug into time and timelessness. Since 1970 Anne Bean has presented solo and collaborative projects, worldwide
Rod Melvin studied at Chelsea School of Art 1967-8, then at Reading University Fine Art Department where he and Anne Bean were founding members of performance group Moody & The Menstruators (aka The Moodies ). His subsequent music work has involved working and writing with Ian Dury (What A Waste, England’s Glory) and playing for Brian Eno recordings. (Another Green World, Nerve Net). His theatre work includes Lindsay Kemp, National Theatre and Immodesty Blaize. He has also composed for films by James Scott and Peter Richardson and performed live as a pianist and singer in many different settings including a residency at London’s Groucho Club. His visual art in recent years has included knitted portraits (in private collections and the RA Summer exhibitions).
TALKER is an interview zine about performance. Each issue publishes a long-form interview with an artist who works in an innovative way with live practice. Since 2016, it has featured Ian White, Sue Tompkins, Dora García, Spalding Gray, Kathy Acker, Jo Fong, Paul Maheke, Gustav Metzger, Barby Asante, Miranda July, Agus Nur Amal PMTOH, Bobby Baker, Mayo Thompson, Anne Bean and Martín La Roche.
