My Two Toms formed in Newport in 2001 and moved to Bristol in 2002. One of them is called Cops, the other one Stubbs. They play instrumental songs on banjo, guitar & ukulele.

My Two Toms have supported artists as diverse as Kimya Dawson, Mirah, Herman Dune, Joanna Newsom, Animal Collective, Nina Nastasia, Movietone, Crescent, Casiotone For The Painfully Alone, Chatham County Line, Little Wings and Jeffrey Lewis. In 2007 they completed a successful 3 week tour of the American mid-west with Charlie Parr and were hand-picked by Radio 1’s Huw Stephens to play at the Latitude Festival. This summer they are heading back out to America and are continuing to work on new songs.

“This is friendly, charming, lo-fi, but highly intricate, fun” – Everett True, Plan B, November 2006

The Balky Mule (Fat Cat Records) Blends and bends bootsale casio, rough hewn guitar chords and considered lyrics in a post-Peel songwriting style.

The core of this group is Sam Jones, previously of Bristol bands Movietone and Crescent, now more often assisted by fingers and thumbs from further afield...
