Rarely is the potential of the human voice harnessed in ways more perception-altering than the performances of Loré Lixenberg, a British mezzo-soprano who honed her vocal craft in relatively conventional channels but elected to use it in the realms of the bold avant-garde. Maker of voice pieces such as SINGLR, VOXXCOIN and Bird, and leader of The Voice Party, since the 1990s, this has also sometimes included operatic roles (including ‘Jerry Springer: The Opera’!), other times seen Lixenberg vocally interpreting scores/recordings by composers such as Ligeti, Stockhausen and Cage. Joined here by Bilge Nur Ylmaz, Tim Cape, Ben Smith, Elia Moretti and Joseph Kohlmaier to celebrate the 100 anniversary of Cathy Berberian and developments in the new vocality both vintage and modern, this will be a residency for and about voices that is certain to be enthralling.
