LEAFCUTTER JOHN

Leafcutter John is best known for combining ear-warping experimental electronic sound with sweetly melodic and sometimes mean malevolent folk. Leafcutter is also a member of Mercury Prize nominated band Polar Bear, a Jazz band like no other.

At the moment John is working on his 5th studio album as well as commissions from the BBC, and Fuse 09 Festival. In the next few months he will be touring the UK with Polar Bear / Dirty Projectors. And traveling to the Swedish forest to record an album for the box project (RuneGrammofon).

SEB ROCHFORD

Although best known for his contribution as a drummer and band leader , tonight Seb will be singing and playing guitar with his band Room of Katinas, joined by Mandy Drummond on Viola, Vocals and Bass, and Joe Bentley on drums. Beautiful, intimate songs written in the room of Ruta katinas in Hoboken, New York.

Seb's success ranges from studio work with musicians such as Patti Smith, Brian Eno, Herbie Hancock and Squarepusher to writing and producing for/with theremin player Pamelia Kurstin and gyspy/punk band Deathray Trebuchey, to performances with Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon, Marc Ribot and Stan Tracey.

He won the 2004 BBC Jazz Award for Rising Star, 2005 BBC Best Band Award with Acoustic Ladyland, and with his band Polar Bear nominated for the Mercury Prize.

THE MAGIC LANTERN

Formed above a north London post office in October 2006, The Magic Lantern is the wonderful world of music and words distilled in the songs of Jamie Doe.

With an immediately arresting sound courtesy chiefly ofJamie's wholehearted head-back-and-emote singing, but also of the telling range of textures available from the various combinations of instruments in the band, The Magic Lantern shine a lighton the fertile hinterland between jazz and folk. Starting with Jamie's voice and the lyrics it carriesbutswiftlyleading to raucous bass clarinet woofs, delicate cello plucks, swooping guitar slides and crashing percussion slaps, The Magic Lantern never fail to wring raw emotion from the strangest places.
