Marie in a Bottle produces a play-reading evening performing “The Restaurant of Many Orders” by a Japanese author of children’s literature, Kenji Miyazawa. The story explores nature’s greatness and human’s absurdity, nature’s generosity and human’s ugliness through simple expressions with creepy atmosphere.

The event includes the small interactive installation which stimulates all five senses. This evening is to introduce one of the most well-known Japanese writers of children stories. The performance will be played in English.

Once there were two young gentlemen deep in the mountains, among the dry leaves. They were dressed like soldiers and carried shiny guns. Lost in the woods, they found a house with a sign saying ‘restaurant’. As they walk in, they find more and more signs asking them strange orders. Are they really at an actual restaurant? or where are they…?
