Soft Apple presents an evening full of sonic colour

The artist Jo Thomas presents her work including the album Random Feathers, a mesmerising collection of glitches, sonic rocks and soulful pulsation.

Lara Jones presenting her raw and virtuosic playing of the jazz saxophone and electronics Will Dutta presents his exceptionally vivid piano-led compositions with electronic legends Plaid, composer Max de Wardener and sound designer Manuel Poletti taken from his second studio album, bloom.

Jo Thomas

Jo Thomas is a London based electronic music artist. She writes writing purely electronic music and electronic improvisation.Recent electronic work includes Talk Taime, Sunshine over Nimbus,Natures numbers a commission based on the works of Delia Derbyshire and work for a for Drum Concerto for Orchestra, Non Classical. She works with large sculptural extreme forms often from her own voice , moulding and moving sound. Jo performs both in a very underground level and quite a large scale form.
Her own work is electronic work is released by several labels and she has her own imprint called Soft Apple in which she now she releases her work alongside the work of others. Her work has been played internationally and locally, she is an activist for women’s rights. In 2012 she won the Golden Nica from Prix Ars Electronica for Digital Musics and Sound Art.

Will Dutta

Will Dutta is a curating composer whose creative practice incorporates performance, composition and performance research. His work is presented in a range of art paces and institutional contexts, in the UK and internationally.
His debut album for Just Music, Parergon, features exceptional recordings of his hyper-colourful piano-led collaborations with Warp-veterans Plaid, Max de Wardener and John Matthias alongside his own performances of minimalist compositions.

Lara Jones

Lara Jones is an award winning saxophonist, composer and producer based in London. She was Jerwood Arts Jazz Encounter Fellow 2020-2022 and recipient of Help Musician’s UK’s Peter Whittingham Jazz Award 2021. She is also alumni of Manchester Jazz Festival’s talent development programme’s ‘hothouse’ and ‘level up’. She recently featured a groundbreaking guest mix on Mary Anne Hobbs’ BBC 6 Music show, Lara is on the cutting edge of experimental music, both in and out of jazz.

She is a member of avant garde trio J Frisco. Lara contrasts high energy pulsating electronics with minimal soundscapes with saxophone & synths; using live processing and field recordings to build structures and stories in her work. Her work has been featured across BBC 6 music & BBC Radio 3.
