GABBER MODUS OPERANDI + EP/64 + Hyperstition Duo

No Longer Available

This show has unfortunately been postponed due to travel issues relating to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. We're working to reschedule this show and hope to have an update on that as soon as possible. Please see: https://www.cafeoto.co.uk/coronavirus/

Promising potent, unusual fusions of “the sacred, the stupid, and the fun,” Indonesian duo Gabber Modus Operandi exhibit a penchant for all things outrageous. After cutting their teeth at local parties and punk gigs in Denpasar, the duo banded together to experiment with and amalgamate the evil energies of gabber, driving rhythms of footwork, percussive patterns of funkot (an Indonesian dance music subgenre), and wildness of jathilan (a traditional Indonesian trance dance in which spirits possess a dancer’s body, challenging one to become more animal and more wild). This tour brings their infamous live show to the UK for the first time.

Ep/64

Subtle wild improvisation combo with variable geometry, formed by raw vocalist Dali de Saint Paul. Once Dali dreamt of a band that played 64 gigs and then stopped, "Ephemeral Project 64"... and so far, that is the only plan they adopt, the rest is spontaneous and free.

This appearance will feature an all-female combo including Yoshino Shigihara (Yama Warashi), Agathe Max (Papivores), Joanna Pucci (Burl), Ursula Russell (Snapped Ankles/Ursa Majour Moving Group/ Alabaster Deplume) & Dali (Harrga, Viridian Ensemble…)

HYPERSTITION DUO

Summoning egregors of the anthropocene, HYPERSTITION DUO plunge deep to deliver a maximalist collective immersion into their own lysergic phonosphere. Lurching, polyrhythmic pathways crumble and re-assemble; elastic dynamics snap; propulsion sparks from the nerve-centre of machine and corporeal entanglement. Featuring ex-members of Blood Sport, templexing, möbius loops and cybernetic subjectivities abound in an attempt to conjure escape vectors in a world of ubiquitous sound.
