An electrifying long-form improvisation of music and words led by composer and live-electronic musician Pouya Ehsaei and performer-writer Tara Fatehi joined by a unique cast of guest artists: multi-instrumentalist Robert Stillman bringing his deeply intuitive, genre-bending approach to improvisation, cellist Abi Asisa, manipulating her classical cello to create immersive soundscapes alongside influential rapper and experimental musician GAIKA and artist and poet Karenjit Sandhu.
From the Lips to the Moon blends live and electronic music, twisted beats, spoken word, and performance into an unruly, multi-sensory experience. It is a space for unexpected encounters, radical openness, and endless playfulness – an “ecstatic embrace of dissonance” (Nero Editions).
Since 2022, From the Lips to the Moon has become a driving force in London’s experimental performance scene, with past shows at Southbank Centre, Latitude, V&A, Cafe OTO, 180 Studios, Sophiensaele, Teatro Lucido, NTS and Soho Radio among others. POUYA EHSAEI is a live electronic musician, composer and sound designer working on the intersections of experimental electronic music, live improv and dub techno, characterised by influences from industrial music, breakbeat, jazz, noise, and Iranian folk and classical music. He is co-founder of From the Lips to the Moon, the band-leader of Cuban-Iranian ensemble Ariwo and co-founder of Parasang where he led long-form improvisations in a clubbing context. His latest album People of the Wind is out on Akazib Records (2025).

TARA FATEHI works across performance, movement, voice, and writing exploring multivocality, unfinishedness, and ambiguity. Her playful practice is inspired by everyday absurdity, the inevitability of politics, and misremembered histories. She has performed at Nottdance, V&A, Tate Modern, Southbank Centre, Arnolfini, Montpelier Dance, Oslo Dansens Hus, parks, streets, warehouses, and more. She is co-founder of From the Lips to the Moon, experimental punk-inspired music and spoken word night; author of Mishandled Archive (LADA, 2020), a series of 365 public interventions; and vocalist of People of the Wind (Akazib, 2025).

Born out of his travels through the many global currents of contemporary London, GAIKA’s music is dark yet melodic, experimental yet catchy. While drawing strongly from his Brixton upbringing and his Jamaican and Grenadian heritage, GAIKA’s sound is ultimately expansive, seamlessly weaving musical motifs, vocal flows and slangs of UK, US and Caribbean music.
As both a vocalist and producer, GAIKA is as uncompromising in his politics as his sonics, intent on expanding and exploding the ideas of what contemporary black british music is. From his debut mixtape Machine in 2015 all the way to his debut LP on Warp Records Basic Volume, GAIKA is channeling the unique synthesis of the UK’s musical make-up, firmly at the forefront of a new London.
Robert Stillman is a woodwind player/improvisor/composer based in Margate, UK. He has released multiple albums of his own music on labels including Orindal (Chicago, USA), Kit (London, UK), MIC (London, UK, and collaborates regularly with artists including the Smile, Tom Skinner, Dave Okumu, Sean Carpio, and Anders Holst.
Karenjit Sandhu's publications include Poetic Fragments from the Irritating Archive (Guillemot Press), young girls! (the 87 Press) and Baby 19 (Intergraphia Books). Her work is featured in Judith: Women Making Visual Poetry and The Blue Notebook: Journal for Artists’ Books. Sandhu's artists’ books have been collected by the Tate Archive (London) and exhibited at The Showroom (London) and Galerie éof (Paris). Her performance work has led to collaborations with the Institute of Contemporary Arts, Barbican, Flat Time House and Christie’s (London), Arnolfini (Bristol) and Galerie Eric Dupont (Paris). She is a member of the British Art Network and has written for exhibition catalogues on contemporary British, European and South Asian art.
abi asisa is a London-based producer and electroacoustic cellist whose work blends classical, improvisational, and experimental influences. Originally from Brighton, she moved to London at 19, where she transitioned from traditional cello performance into a more improvisational, genre-fluid practice. Through layering and live manipulation, she transforms the cello into a source of textured, immersive soundscapes that move fluidly between composition and improvisation.
Asisa is a member of the multidisciplinary collective Life is Beautiful, collaborating across music, dance, and visual art. She has performed at venues including Cafe OTO, the Southbank Centre, the Tate Modern, and is an alumni of the Montreux Jazz artists residency.
