LSC present: Egyptian Females Experimental Music Session + NUR

No Longer Available

For years now, Asmaa Azzouz, Shorouk El Zomor, Jacqueline George, Nina El Gebaly, Hagar Masoud and Ola Saad have been collectively and individually intertwined within the world of sound art, noise, and experimental music. All six musicians are each direct musical descendents from the brilliant sound artist and curator Ahmed Basiouny, who tragically lost his life while protesting in Cairo during the January 2011 revolution. Basiouny is known for being one of the pioneers of sound art through his deconstruction and reconstruction of the traditional sonic sphere. With the use of tone generators, pitch and timbral deconstructions, jazz structures, field recordings and layers upon layers, this project is a true testament to free and creative expression. It is emblematic of Cairo’s soundscape, at the same time traces of melodies and rhythms can be found through this beautifully orchestrated and outrageous experiment in a radical Do-It-Yourself fashion.
