David Coulter, Seb Rochford, Leo Abrahams and Tom Herbert quartet.

This group emerged recently having been brought together to play on Brigitte Fontaine’s latest album. Having enjoyed the experience so much they decided to start playing together more regularly. This will be their first public performance together.

DAVID COULTER

British master multi-instrumentalist (playing guitar, violin, mandolin, theremin, ukulele, bass, didjeridu, Jew's harp, musical saw, accordion, harmonium etc.) and sound artist. David spent six years with The Pogues; he was a member of Test Department and he has worked and recorded with Marc Ribot, Talvin Singh, Peter Hammill, The Kronos Quartet, Nitin Sawney, Roger Eno, Joe Strummer, Band of Holy Joy, Arthur H., Steve Nieve, Boy George, The Communards, Pete Townsend and many others. He has collaborated with French composer, arranger and electronica artist Jean-Jacques Palix and Parisian vocalist, author and live sound mixer and turntable artist, Eve Couturier since 1987, for the label Song Active Production and together they have just released their latest album Un Bruit qui Court. Both Jean-Jacques and Eve Couturier are also represented by Fringecore.

David sees his music as a form of sonic meditation - a musical exploration of resonance - playing with time, a creation of space, an exploration of emotions to create vivid images.

David continues to work as a musician/sound artist with The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in Oxford, where he recently worked with Gustav Metzger in restaging the Fluxus performance "Zyklus". Otherwise, David performs in various guises and we generally put him together with other extraordinary artists who are able to create a totally unique fusion of live improvisation.

SEB ROCHFORD

Originally from Aberdeen, Seb is the extraordinary in-demand drummer/composer and winner of BBC Jazz award for Rising Star 2004 whose healthy range of influences include Napalm Death, Venetian Snares, Bjork, Prince and contemporary electronica as well as a large dose of jazz.

Rochford leads the acclaimed Polar Bear (winner of the Rising Star Award in the 2004 BBC Jazz Awards and nominated for both 2004 and 2005 best band in BBC Jazz Awards) and who's recent album Held on the Tips of Fingers was nominated for the highly prestigious 2005 Mercury Music Prize. It went on to appear in the top 100 all time jazz recordings that shook the World in Jazzwise Magazine in 2006. Seb has also been working and recording with Pete Wareham's Acoustic Ladyland, Julia Biel, Ingrid Laubrock, Oriole, Juliet Kelly, and Tim Richards among others. He also appears in various alt rock bands such as Menlo Park and Paul the Girl and leads a quirkily melodic jazz-punk trio Fulborn Teversham. Also among his many ventures, Seb appeared at the Patti Smith Meltdown concert at the Barbican drumming for Yoko Ono alongside her son, guitarist Sean Lennon. In October 2006 Seb appeared at the newly renovated Roundhouse in Camden for the Electric Proms in duo with Soft Machine legend, bassist Hugh Hopper.

LEO ABRAHAMS

Leo Abrahams (b. 1977) has played with Brian Eno, Paul Simon, Bryan Ferry, Mariaane Faithful and Grace Jones.

Leo studied composition at the Royal Academy of Music before embarking on a career as a guitarist, arranger and producer. He has enjoyed long-standing associations with Brian Eno (appearing on several albums), Ed Harcourt with whom he has toured and recorded for 6 years, and film composer David Holmes (Oceans 12 and the award-winning Code 46). He has also collaborated with artists as diverse as Rachid Taha, Paul Simon, Nik Kershaw, Grace Jones, Nick Cave and Imogen Heap among many others.

2005 saw the release of Leo’s debut album “Honeytrap” on the independent UK label Just Music. A collection of evocative, cinematic instrumentals blending folk, ambient and ethnic influences, the record was critically acclaimed and interest continues to grow, aided by innovative live shows and tracks being licensed to film and TV.

In 2006 he released the follow-up album, “Scene Memory” on Bip Hop
