Stay on or come join us after the Christmas Fair for a special bar night featuring the first time duo of none other than Maggie Nicols and local legend NiCKY. FREE entry all night!
Maggie popped in on last year's xmas do and found herself tap dancing along to Pink Pony Club at the back, so it seems right to get NiCKY on the keys for a few duo turns this year. We're thinking somewhat 'free' versions of Nat King Cole's Christmas tunes but honestly, who knows.
Confirmed: Two solo sets, then a duo set, rough start around 8/8.30 we reckon, and we'll play some warming tunes before
Maggie Nicols joined London's legendary Spontaneous Music Ensemble in 1968 as a free improvisation vocalist. She then became active running voice workshops with an involvement in local experimental theatre. She later joined the group Centipede, led by Keith Tippets and in 1977, with musician/composer Lindsay Cooper, formed the remarkable Feminist Improvising Group. She continues performing and recording challenging and beautiful work, in music and theatre, either in collaborations with a range of artists (Irene Schweitzer, Joelle Leandre, Ken Hyder, Caroline Kraabel) as well as solo.
A vital voice in London’s queer performance scene, NiCKY is known for their disarming, emotionally charged songwriting – part torch song, part bedroom synth fantasy. Recent work includes scores for Tomorrow Is Already Dead at Soho Theatre, London, and The AIDS Plays Project at London Performance Studios. NiCKY is currently working on their debut album. Their EP, with, was released at Cafe OTO in 2025.
