BleeD and Cafe OTO present a special two-day DJ residency for one of the leading lights of the experimental electronic undergound, Rabih 'Morphosis' Beaini.
Morphosis is a lone voice in electronic music. Few people thread as challenging and intriguing live shows as him, where dark wave, krautrock, post everything and techno all sit together in haunted hardware harmony. His own Morphine label is just as sonically unpredictable, so too his own cultured remixes or stunning long players such as the immediately timeless and standout ouevre that was 'What We Have Learned' and the exploration of his Lebanese roots, 'Albindaya'. Unfamiliar and unmissable, the Lebanese artist's productions sound as live and alive as anything he does in the club, truly making him in a class of one.

“Undoubtedly one of the electronic LPs of the year, What We Have Learned classily reconciles the experimental and the dancefloor-effective, the abstract and the immediate; influences include post-punk and krautrock, but these broken down and absorbed into the very bloodstream of the music, rather than worn like external accessories.” – FACT

Rabih Beaini

Morphosis aka Ra.H aka Rabih Beaini has been crafting away in the nether-regions of the techno underworld since the 90s. Initially as a DJ, it was a move to Italy in 1996 which proved the catalyst for him to start experimenting in the studio. And he really did experiment: few people craft the sort of emotional, imaginative techno as has Beaini for labels like Sistrum Recordings (Detroit), M>O>S (Amsterdam) and Styrax (Berlin). Whilst his productions join the dots between raw, elementary electronica and jazz, for the last six years his label Morphine Records has released an equally avant guard selection of techno from the likes of Madteo, Hieroglyphic Being and Anthony "Shake" Shakir.

Now back in Lebanon to continue his various musical projects in his homeland, including a new Upperground Orchestra album, Rabih Beaini continues to do what he does best... make electronic music with depth and intrigue. As such, keen followers of techno will already have heard some of the offerings from his most recent project, a new Morphosis album ‘What Have We Learned’ (due April 2011 on M>O>S/Delsin/Morphine), as both ‘Android's Among Us’ and ‘Dirty Matter’ were remixed by T++ and Newworldaquarium for a limited edition white label late last year.
