Astro:Dynamics present a night of music from recent signings Quiltland & Lord Skywave, with Pride of Gombe DJs playing us out 'til closing time. A cheaper ticket is available for late entry should you not be able to make the earlier shows, but still want to come and dance and drink along to the DJs for the last few hours.
Quiltland is the moniker of Frida-Li Lovgren, an artist based in Stockholm whose debut LP Astro:Dynamics are soon to be releasing. Her music combines a pop-orientated experimental approach where a new-age fragility sits alongside a tape-sautrated euro trance palette, at times recalling the likes of Lars 'TCF' Holdhus or Lorenzo Senni but with a more saccarine-sweet and vocal-fuelled edge.
Lord Skywave is the alias of one Simon Lord, someone who appeared back at our first event at Cafe OTO last year as part of Arclight alongside Lukid. Lord has taken a number of forms over the years (as a vocalist in Simian, and as part of the Black Ghosts project alongside Theo Keating of The Wiseguys and Fake Blood). His recent tape for Astro:Dynamics, Cardamon Copy, opted for a dubbed-out and deconstructed radiophonic-esque sound filled with smudged out and gelatinous electronic textures.
Pride of Gombe is a collection of artists and DJs who get together every once in a while to play the records they want to play, claiming the likes of Lukid, BNJMN, Samoyed and Mr Beatnick as in their ranks. Pride of Gombe family and friends will be playing as many great records as possible between Quiltland and Lord Skywave's live shows and closing time.
