Shizuka were a mysterious, hooded collective out of Japan led by the eponymous Shizuka (also expert doll maker) who released several albums in the nineties. Their songs were slow, heavy and sensual - perhaps recalling early The Velvet Underground as played at 16rpm - but are both world weary and soaring. This re-issue should give you opportunity to hear what you may have missed.
