Eamonn Jordan is the son of Brigid McElroy, a traditional folk singer from Lurgan, Co. Armagh and grandson of Thomas McElroy, fiddler and healer.

He has always been fascinated by the richness of the folk tradition in Ulster, a meld of the Scottish. English and native Gaelic traditions. Donegal, that cultural bridge between Scotland and Ireland, is where he has chosen to make his home.

Arising from the years spent by Eamonn in teaching traditional music in Ulster. Thomas O'Canainn, lecturer, composer and musician, and author of the influential 'Traditional Music in Ireland' has described Eamonn as 'the teacher of a whole new generation of Irish musicians'.
