In 1965 Eddie Prévost began an odyssey that became AMM. Together with Keith Rowe, Lou Gare. Lawrence Sheaff, Cornelius Cardew and later by John Tilbury, a new practice of making music emerged. With his customary elegance and economy Cardew suggested that the way AMM was experimental was in searching for sounds. This deceptively simple formulation is, Prévost believes, at the heart of the AMM aesthetic. It also informs the work developed within the weekly London workshop first convened in 1999. It inspired Prévost's book The First Concert (Copula 2011) which he dedicated to all those who worked with AMM and all those who has since joined with him in the workshop quest.

This newly revived series of concert at The Cafe Oto project space will occur on Sunday afternoon of September 1st, October 6th, November 3rd and December 1st 2013. They are not workshops in themselves but a musical association arising from a mixture of more experienced and newer participants who will make concerts together with Prévost.

"Everywhere, the orthodox systems of our times anticipate the careful and clear presentation of ready-worked-out on-tap outcomes, throughout our lives. Said systems seldom afford focused vantage on the vagaries, protean problems, the awkward wealth, of investigation itself. Generally, the on-goings of development are hidden, edited or simply unseen; what has been developed over time is rendered public, honed for appreciation after the fact, variously knowable, reproducible and endorsable qua final product or record." - Seymour Wright
