Sunk Season III presents a night of drone duos, encompassing folk improvisation, trance-state psychedelia and esoteric incantations, featuring Padang Food Tigers, Clime and Occult Hand. Expect the usual Sunk surroundings, with stage decoration by Jennifer Crouch, incense, DJs and general transcendent vibes.

PADANG FOOD TIGERS

Stephen Lewis and Spencer Grady have been operating as the duo Padang Food Tigers since around 2009, with previous offerings of their tentative, often abstract, folk improvisations coming out on labels such as Bathetic, Blackest Rainbow, Under The Spire and Second Language. They’ve also played alongside Christina Carter, Neil Campbell & Michael Flower, Alan Wilkinson, C Joynes and Nathan Bell. Padang Food Tigers find influence in the music of Loren Connors, Scott Tuma, The Hired Hand, Morton Feldman, Derek Bailey and Ry Cooder.

CLIME

Formed in 2012 and with releases on Sunk Series and forthcoming on Housecraft and Space Slave Editions, Clime is made up of Jake Webster (Tuluum Shimmering) and Sunk’s own Jimmy Billingham (Tidal, etc.), the end result being what you might expect from these guys: ethno-psychedelia and tribal percussion meets synth drones and blissful tones, improvised into ecstasy and looped til the spirits rise.

OCCULT HAND

An augmentation of nocturnal emissions seeping out of Sussex like a ritualistic study of religions long since passed into the realm of fetish, it was as if an occult hand had pointed them out to each other from the sky and brought forth daring jewels down the belted ear system.
