Curated by Regan Bowering, the fifth event in the “space” series invites new work from international and London-based musicians and artists. Each event holds space for creative risk-taking and first-time collaborations spanning improvisation, composition, and conceptually driven practices.
Michael Barthel, born in 1977, growing up in East-Berlin, is a Sound-Poet living in Leipzig. Since 1994 Barthel works as an autodidact in Noise / Tape Music. From 2009 his focus shifted to working with language in writing and sound.
His „Sprechstücke“combines sound poetry, the big mouth of Berlin dialect and lyric in the intention and loudness of Punk, ending up its poem’s topics of desire and despair in human relationships.

Luciano Maggiore is a Palermo-born, London-based musician whose work is characterised by the use of speakers and several analogue/digital devices (samplers, CD players, walkmans, tape recorders) as well as acoustic objects and addresses the performativity of the musical act, the perception of it, and the obscurity that emanates from it.
His main interests include mechanisms of sound diffusion, performance, repetition, endurance, non-human animal languages, dance, and folklore.

Percussionist Seijiro Murayama was born in 1957 in Nagasaki, Japan. He started performing improvised music in 1972, under some influence of Vinko Globokar and musicologist Fumio Koizumi. After graduated from Tokyo University in 1982 in Urdu studies he toured the USA with Keiji Haino as part of the seminal psychedelic band Fushitsusha. Returning to Japan after a period in NYC he continued playing drums and electronics in K.K. Null‘s noise/rock band A.N.P. (Absolut Null Punkt), while further exploring free improvisation. A relocation to France in 1999 led to collaborations that extended into dance, theatre and performance as well as ongoing partnerships with musicians Jean-Luc Guionnet, Eric Cordier, Michel Doneda, Mattin, Lionel Marchetti, among many others. After over a decade in Europe he relocated back to Japan in 2013.
His artistic principal is to work with the idea of the plural or inter-disciplinary relationships between music and other disciplines of art: dance, video, paintings, photos, literature etc. In this way, he collaborates with musicians, composers, and sound artists. Improvisation is always the major concern for him, even if it is not his artistic goal. His approach is based on the attention to space and place, to the energy of the audience and to the quality and perception of silence on various levels.
Silvan Schmid is a trumpet player based between Zürich and Maastricht. He plays live and does recordings with people and projects such as Solo, Gamut Kollektiv,Miao Silvan Makossiri, Alex Riva, Mraolia, Félicie Bazelaire, ТЕПЛОТА x RIVASCHMID, Lotus Eddé Khouri, TZUSSS, Fabian Saul.
Zara Joan Miller is a British/Iranian artist working across poetry, performance and film. Her writing often situates itself in communal time(keeping) and space before taking root in the private body. BLUE MONDAY was published by JOAN Publishing in 2022 and her second book of poetry Year of the Dragon is forthcoming with TACO. She has performed or screened work recently at Ann Arbor Film Festival, Barbican Centre, Maximilian William Gallery, Les Atelier Claus, In Vitro, Default Den Haag. Her writing has appeared in motor dance journal, Fieldnotes journal, Hotel, Another Gaze and Worms. Blue Monday was also released as a duo LP with Ute Kanngießer on New York label Reading Group in 2023.
Ellis Berwick (he/him) is an artist, engineer and musician from London (UK), who unites all three disciplines in his sculptural practise. Inspired by the effect of monumental public sculpture, simultaneously ignored and mythologised, Berwick works with heritage musical instrument parts through assemblage and automation to explore their enduring symbolic and sonic power.
Regan Bowering is a percussionist, improviser and sound artist based in London. Her solo work explores various combinations of drums and percussion, objects, amps, speakers, and feedback. Her debut album “Solos for _ _ _ _ Spaces” (Dec 2023 on Bezirk Tapes) was described as “a play of contrasts, contradicting voluminous expressions with confined phrases, taming resounding feedback with faint percussive flutters, but one that feels driven by the desire to craft electrifying drama rather than pure autotelic dissonance.” (The Quietus). She is one third of a collaborative project with Li Song and Conal Blake, with two releases: “2 Movements” (Feedback Moves, 2024) and "Music for Snare Drums and Portable Speakers" (Infant Tree, 2023). Her debut LP “A Technology of Feeling” was released January 2026 on Infant Tree.
