Join us for a very special evening to celebrate the release of Six Days in Down / Sé la í n Dún a new, collaborative recording by US guitar giant, Bob Brozman and two of Ireland’s finest young traditional musicians, Dónal O’Connor (fiddle) and John McSherry (pipes & whistles).
Redefining musical diversity worldwide, Bob Brozman is a remarkably prolific artist whose wit, energy, and musical technique combine powerfully to create an unforgettable live performance. Dónal O’Connor has inherited a great musical legacy of at least five generations of fiddle playing. His musicianship has been described as “immaculate” “electrifying” and “…borne out of naked talent and consummate professionalism…” - The Irish Times.
John Mc Sherry is hailed as one of the finest exponents of the art of Uilleann piping in the world today - "a true master" - Irish Music Magazine
The recording was made during an intense week of work in February 2008 at Down Arts Centre in Downpatrick. What was achieved in such a short space of time is a truly remarkable, creative and life affirming piece of work, which enhances traditions rather than compromising them.
Six Days in Down / Sé la í n Dún will be released by World Music Network by early Autumn 2010 and is supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, through the National Lottery and the Creative Industries Innovation Fund .
