SCORCES

Scorces is the duo of Heather Leigh Murrary (Taupis Tula) and Christina Carter (Charalambides). Begun in 1996 as a recording project that culminated in their debut self-titled album for Wholly Other, the pair have since put out a variety of recordings via Fonal and Free Porcupine Society, amongst others. Based around their soaring vocals, with drones and intricacies provided by guitar, pedal steel and sometimes chord organs and bells.

NAWADAHA

Nawadaha is the Cardigan, Wales-based duo of guitarist Frank Janiurek and vocalist Jasmin Janiurek, previously known as Red Kites. Together they sound spookily like a late night Nico / Velvet Underground rehearsal session - all glacial vocals, guitar, viola and harmonium that on occasion abandons rhythm and melody for a wraith of swirling improvisation. A self-titled release is available on Tom Greenwood of Jackie-O's U-Sound imprint.

Firmly established through a punishing touring schedule and a staggering back catalogue of releases on European and American labels, Family Battle Snake - aka Greek native Bill Kouligas - conjures up a hazy psychedelic mayhem.
