East London collective School of Hypnosis is an ever-evolving cast of local musicians and fly-in friends with an interest in playing free and improvised music within designed forms. Assembling in living rooms and warehouses, the group meet regularly to perform both pieces by minimalist composers and their own compositions, where each interpretation is as unpredictable as it is unique. In July 2015 School Of Hypnosis was invited to perform at The Barbican as part of the 'Station To Station’, where the group premiered its own composition, 'Sonic Tides', a 25 minute work for voice, hydrophone, percussion and synthesizer.

For its 1st Birthday, School of Hypnosis will gather its largest group yet for a performance of Terry Riley’s pulsating and mesmeric piece 'In C’. Riley’s minimalist classic is a hypnotic musical evolution where performers move chronologically through a series of looped parts, serendipitous harmonisations and counterpoints evolving and evanescing over an hour or more. Expect an immersive musical experience as performers spill off the stage and into the room.

Be The Bee is an 8 person performance designed as a precursor to BE THE BEE art installation: a sound-led, multi-sensory art installation that will be set in a World War II bunker located beneath two beehives in Dalston. Written by Heloise Tunstall-Behrens, choreographed by Roswitha Gerlitz and performed by members of Dalston's Deep Throat Choir, the piece explores the sensation of inhabiting a hive. Their aim is that such an experience will prompt us to consider our lives in relation to the lives of the bees.
