Sacred Tapes present: Yes Blythe / Swaggerjack / John Powell-Jones Crossover Set: Void + Stushevatsya + Carriers

No Longer Available

Showcase from Manchester's fantastic Sacred Tapes cassette label, which ove the past couple of years has documented a broad array of the city's vibrant noise and electronic music scenes.

Yes Blythe / Swaggerjack / John Powell-Jones Crossover Set: Void

Swaggerjack is the duo of label head Callum Higgins and John Powell-Jones. With two albums to date both released on Sacred Tapes, Swaggerjack are currently the second act to be taking part in the Samarbeta music residency series. For this residency the duo spent a week in isolation writing and recording a new album from scratch of which only one copy is being made and will be archived in the British Library Sound Archive.

Both members of Swaggerjack record and perform as solo acts, Higgins as Yes Blythe and John Powell-Jones under his own name. The crossover set was originally conceived for an event at an exhibition of Powell-Jones Illustration work and encompasses a seamless progression from one act to the other. A version of this set was then recorded and featured on the Wire website: http://www.thewire.co.uk/audio/tracks/listen_exclusive-sacred-tapes-recording

Stushevatsya

Tombed Visions Records head David McLean is involved with countless projects, Stushevatsya is just one of these and has the honour of being the very first release on Sacred Tapes. Stushevatsya serves as a focal point for his excursions into more sample based work. Built with multiple layers of twisted and warped field recordings.

Carriers

Carriers is the modular synth work of Christopher William Anderson. His recent release 'Great Silence' is a collection of six tracks digitally edited and remixed from source material recorded throughout 2014. The sounds document the process of learning how the hardware works, developing new playing techniques and experimenting with signal flow.
