After spending most of her life until the age of 25 in music schools, the cellist, improviser and composer Okkyung Lee finally found her artistic freedom in New York, where she moved in 2000. Since then, she has performed and recorded with numerous artists such as Laurie Anderson, Lotte Anker, Derek Bailey, Jell Bjørgeengen, Carla Bozulich, Nels Cline, Chris Corsano, Sylvie Courvoisier, Mark Dresser, Fred Frith, John Hollenbeck, Vijay Iyer, Lindha Kallerdahl, Andrew Lampert, Christian Marclay, Billy Martin, Miya Masaoka, Min Xiao-Fen, Thurston Moore, Ikue Mori, Lawrence D. "Butch" Morris, Larry Ochs, Jim O'rourke, Zeena Parkins, Marc Ribot, Wadada Leo Smith, Skuli Sverrisson, Spencer Yeah and John Zorn to name a few.

Steve Beresford has played and composed a wide range of music on both pianos and electronics, from free improvisation to more commercial styles. Moving to London in 1974, he played in Derek Bailey’s Company, in the group Alterations with David Toop, Terry Day and Peter Cusack and in The Three Pullovers with Nigel Coombes and Roger Smith. Beresford has continued to play free improvisation with a large number of prominent musicians, including Evan Parker, Lol Coxhill, John Zorn and Han Bennink. He has collaborated with Christian Marclay in various ways for many years, and he has a new CD on Emanem – Check For Monsters – with Peter Evans and Okkyung Lee.

John Butcher ’s music ranges through free improvisation, composition, multi-tracked saxophone pieces and work with live electronics, amplification and feedback. He is well known as a solo performer and has recently released Resonant Spaces which explores extreme acoustics. He has composed pieces for Polwechsel, Elision, the Rova Saxophone Quartet and "somethingtobesaid" for his own Octet. He started playing the saxophone while studying physics, but, after finishing a doctorate on quantum chromodynamics, he left academia and focused on music - working in the '80s with Chris Burn, John Russell, Phil Durrant, Paul Lovens and Radu Malfatti. In the early 90s he joined what became the final version of John Stevens’s Spontaneous Music Ensemble and also began playing with Derek Bailey and Phil Minton. Recent projects include Thermal with EX guitarist Andy Moor & Thomas Lehn, The Contest of Pleasures with Axel Doerner and Xavier Charles, and duos with Steve Beresford, Fred Frith, Akio Suzuki and many more.

Initially influenced by Fluxus and Punk rock in the 1970s, Christian Marclay began his exploration into sound through performances with phonograph records in 1979. He then moved to New York where he became an active figure in the downtown new music scene in the 1980s. He is considered a pioneer in experimenting, composing, and performing with records and turntables. Over the past 30 years, Marclay has explored the fusion of art and audio cultures, transforming sounds and music into a visible, physical form through performance, collage, sculpture, installation, photography, and video. Marclay has collaborated with musicians such as John Zorn, Elliott Sharp, Zeena Parkins, Shelley Hirsh, Steve Bersford, Butch Morris, Okkyung Lee, Otomo Yoshihide, Arto Lindsay, and Sonic Youth among many others.
