MONKEY PUZZLE TRIO
A long term slowly evolving music project featuring This Heat drummer/lynchpin Charles Hayward, bassist Nick Doyne-Ditmas and the words, voice and textures of avant-vocalist Viv Corringham, whose music walks a tightrope between song, improvisation and sound-as-sound.
They released their debut album 'White World' on Slowfoot Records.
"An utterly impressive début, 'White World' is the exciting sound of three musicians tuned perfectly to each other's sonic free-thinking." [Rock A Rolla]
"...fascinating and hypnotic music." [The Wire]
'When this particular threesome converges, the result is a music that only exists as a very particular collision. The roots of their soundscapes are inextricably entwined with the German avant-groove combo Can, producer Adrian Sherwood's output and The Slits, in their dubbier incarnation... ...A lightness of rhythmic touch is the main character of these improvised pieces.' [BBC online]
"Their album was recorded in just four days and is one of the most mesmerizing avant-jazz albums that Notion has heard for quite some time" [Notion]

Propelled by the rhythms generated by cheap samplers and drum machines, Snorkel revel in the joy of psychedelic repetition throwing in elastic interruptions on guitar, analogue and digital
synthesisers, trombone, live samples and vocals.
Current members include - Ben Cowen [7-Hurtz, Crackle], Frank Byng [Crackle, Spring Tides, Robert Logan], Tom Marriott [Pest], Roberto Sassi [Cardasanto, Vole] and Ralph Cumbers [AKA Bass Clef]
They recently released their second album 'Stop Machine' on Slowfoot.
"Possibly the best intellectually deconstructed funk record you'll hear this year" [Rock A Rolla]
"...a vital flow of angular energy and unpretentious swagger" [The Wire]
"There are dark, playful combinations right through Stop Machine" [Mojo]
"Stop Machine is a very convincing hybrid, bringing disparate influences together to form a lopsided fourth-world funk of the highest order." [Cyclic Defrost]
“…the missing link between Krautrock and Lee Scratch Perry” - [Rock a Rolla]
"bathed in the rhythmic propulsion of Can, spiky post-punk Moog/guitar interplay, and the dissonance
of This Heat" - [Uncut]
