Michael Moore + Duck Baker

No Longer Available
Two important American Expatriate musicians will perform in duo at Café Oto. Guitarist Duck Baker is now a London resident, and has performed everything from Irish traditional music to free jazz in the city over the years, including a very memorable evening in August at Cafe Oto with Lol Coxhill and Steve Beresford. Michael Moore is considered one of the premier clarinetists of the day, and is pretty scary alto saxophonist as well. Moore has been based in Amsterdam since 1982 and is probably best known for his work with Misha Mengelberg’s Instant Composers Pool Orchestra and with Han Bennink in the Clusone 3. Baker and Moore have performed as a duo in New York and in Amsterdam, playing everything from reworked traditional tunes to free improvisation, but with a strong focus of advanced modern jazz. Expect plenty of Thelonious Monk, Herbie Nichols, and challenging originals by both performers. This will be their first London performance, as well as Moore’s first-ever apart from ICP.
