Pre concert talk and Q&A With Joseph Kohlmaier artistic director of MUSARC

LETHE (an orphic operamentary) is a phantasmagorical documentation of transformation through forgetting—exploring the ancient Greek concept that to truly perform, one must drink from the waters of Lethe and release their previous incarnation. This ambitious participatory project unfolds in three parts: preparation (documentary-style), an interval of phantasmagorical images and soundscape, and the full LARP experience culminating in divine auditions before a jury of goats to determine one's fate in the afterlife.

Drawing on diverse methodologies including the Vedic Rasa Box from Natya Shastra, Nordic LARP techniques, vocal Laban work, and breathing practices, LETHE creates a cross-cultural toolkit for embodied transformation. Participants navigate the eternal tension between Apollo and Dionysus—order and chaos—through analogue gaming and cosplay, ultimately preparing to embody Greek deities in this unique exploration of performance, identity, and mythological judgment. Filmed across locations including the island of Kythira, the banks of the River Thames, and the British Museum, this is the second day of a residency that includes a pre-concert talk and Q&A moderated by Joseph Kohlmaier of MUSARC
