diy x Cafe OTO presents Cairo-based project, Postdrone, British-Czech-Ghanian artists Poison Anna, and multidisciplinary Paris-based artist, Helen Island.
Helen Island, Cafe OTO debut, slips through the gap between dream logic and circuitry, bending ghosted synths and skeletal rhythms into a soft-focus blur of digital melancholy. POiSON ANNA moves like a live wire—cutting across dub, trip-hop, and guitar with a shapeshifting, magnetic intensity that feels both raw and razor-sharp, equal parts introspection and attitude. postdrone holds it down in slow motion, stretching into tape-worn textures and low, pulsing resonance — while a dj set from Nihal threads it all together into a seamless, immersive continuum — Three distinct energies converging into something intimate, transportive, and quietly disorienting.
The British- Czech-Ghanian musician, dancer, and singular young soul draws on themes of spirituality, abuse of power, and social constructs. Her sound is defined by its shapeshifting and intoxicating fusion that encompasses brooding trip-hop, swaggering dub and poised experimentalism. An intoxicating, unique blend of dub, trip-hop and Guitar delivered with poise and personality, POiSON ANNA is one of the most singular and uncompromising British voices to emerge as of late. Debut mixtape 'EXCELSiA' was written as reactionary music to all of societies’ mishaps, from the abuse of power to the emergence of fake news; the project is ultimately a meditation on a very personal journey of self-discovery, reflection and the pursuit of truth in a broken and misguided society. The mixtape was produced alongside regular collaborator Mobbs, and has collaborated with fellow artistic visionaries A$AP Rocky and Dean Blunt.
A Cairo-based project exploring experimental, ambient, and dub soundscapes. Blending digital production with tape manipulation, the work draws from the textures of Cairo and personal moments to create introspective soundtracks shaped through rhythm and space, producing multiple independent releases and hosting “Fak Agza2” bi-monthly on NTS Radio.
