Hebronix + John Chantler + Daichi Yoshikawa

No Longer Available

A return to OTO for Hebronix - the current manifestation of the creative inquisition started 8 years ago by London-based artist Daniel Blumberg - this time joined by multi-instrumentalist Billy Steiger and bassist Tom Wheatley.

Over the course of five albums, each under a different moniker, the 23 year old has restlessly forged an ever-expanding universe inhabited by his sounds and drawings. ‘Unreal’, Hebronix’s most recent LP (released in 2013 by ATP Recordings and recorded in Colorado with Neil Michael Hagerty of Royal Trux/The Howling Hex) is Blumberg’s most accomplished and rewarding record to date, and was met with widespread critical acclaim.

The handful of live dates undertaken in 2013, including a tour with Minnesota slowcore legends Low, saw Blumberg unwilling to be contained by the architecture of his songs, pushing at their walls, seemingly unafraid of their collapse, and in the process remoulding them into beautiful sui generis music at every performance.

2014 will see Blumberg’s irrepressible artistic evolution continue throughout live performance, visual art, and a new Hebronix LP later in the year.

JOHN CHANTLER

Originally from Australia but now resident in London after a stint in Japan. Chantler released his third solo LP for Lawrence English’s ROOM40 label in 2014 – ‘Even Clean Hands Damage the Work’ recorded for the most part at the hallowed EMS studios in Stockholm follows ‘The Luminous Ground’ – released in 2011 and included in The WIRE magazine’s top releases of that year. That was his first LP release focusing on the modular synthesizer system he first explored as part of the trio LP with Lawrence English and Tujiko Noriko – 2009′s ‘U’. Live, he patches a versatile system capable of self-generated, shifting patterns of sliding arpeggios and visceral noise, pointillist interjections and infinitely variable texture.

Iniated in 2011 with a private edition LP, Chantler’s ‘Automatic Music’ series resumed in 2014 with a second volume on cassette via The Tapeworm and volume three coming as a 40 minute digital download of ‘Automatic Music for Henry Flynt’.
