GRAIN is a concert series and archiving project for experimental and improvised music, largely happening within South Bermondsey, and programmed / produced by Caius Williams & Theodora Laird.
Lives and works and in Tokyo. Focuses on the handling of sound and the freedom by D.I.Y. , presenting exhibitions, performances, and releasing recordings using self-made instruments and devices both domestically and internationally. Her recent interest is in the gap between the interaction of tools and instruments and embodiments, and the latency between improvisation and communication, and asking questions about the possibility of poetry and narrative impacts from them.
Recent releases include the collaborative album [S.S.S.S.S.] (Ftarri, 2026 ) with Taiwanese sheng player Lichin Li, and the album [a floor, walls, and a ceiling] (Superpang, 2023) with Toshimaru Nakamura. Currently exhibiting the installation themed laser protests world wide at NTT InterCommunication Center, Tokyo.
