General Echo Reggae Disco is a longrunning night that celebrates classic Jamaican music, covering genres such as ska, rocksteady, roots and dub. Usually taking place on the second Friday of the month at Walthamstow Trades Hall, a beautiful old school social club, guest selectors play some of the greatest music ever made on crackly 45s to a packed dancefloor. They've hosted legendary names such as Gladdy Wax and Musclehead of Saxon Sound System, as well as up-and-coming selectors.
For New Year's Eve they're once again transferring the disco to Cafe OTO, bringing along a crew of some of their best former guests. The space where Cafe OTO now resides was home to a lot of reggae and dub parties in the late 1980s and early 90s, and we're looking forward to continuing this tradition in this present context.
