In Joussein’s work, tonal shifts and powerful electronic drones coalesce into a monumental total work of art. As a collage of intense energy, poetic beauty, free jazz, and noise—infused with elements of early music and extreme metal—Joussein utilizes every inch of her flute and, single-handedly, creates a raw, pieced-together, trembling, hammering soundscape using distortion and electronic effects.
