Fractal Waves present Clorinde + Orchestra Elastique + Daichi Yoshikawa for a night of beautiful instrumental music, free form experimentations & various permutations in between.
CLORINDE
Clorinde was formed in 2005 by two Italian brothers musicians and visual artists: Simone Salvatici and Andrea Salvatici. Their compositions are based on a minimalist approach towards repetition, melodies, rhythm and sounds resulting in beautiful fragile balance between tight cyclic structures and free form improvisation.
Multi-istrumentalist Andrea and Simone make an extensive use of acoustic instruments taken from Western and Non Western folk traditions (among other mandolins, banjos, cello, guitars, vibraphones, kalimbas, zithers, clarinet, bass, electric organ, various drums and percussions) sometimes extrapolated from their original conventional tunings and processed with electronic devices and amplification to produce a unique and beautiful sound.
Clorinde with drummer/percussionist David Harris and cellist Derek Yau will perform some new material from their upcoming album which will be accompanied by visuals.

ORCHESTRA ELASTIQUE
Orchestra Elastique is a London-based music improvisation collective. Formed during a residency at the Shunt Vaults, London, in April 2010, Orchestra Elastique comprises a group of performers and multi-instrumentalists which can vary in number depending on the venue and performance in question. Within its two-years existence the Orchestra has already played some major venues in London and across Europe.
The on-going motif of this encounter is to face music as a playground. Hailing from countries such as France, Portugal, Holland, England and Mexico, Orchestra Elastique fill this playground with instruments such as accordion, trumpet, harmonium, piano, harp, theremin, drums, cello, violin, percussion and voices. The result of these improvisations is a form of music that takes influences from Minimalist Music, Free Jazz, Middle Eastern, Krautrock, and various folkloric traditions with often psychedelic results.

DAICHI YOSHIKAWA
Daichi Yoshikawa is one of the most interesting young improvising musician currently based in London. Using a variety of inverted, diverted and reinvented electronic and acoustic devices he strikes a constantly evolving balance between harsh atonal feedback and elegant high-frequency constructions.
