Astro:Dynamics is very excited to present the exclusive UK debut of 1991, with support from Lukid and Simon Lord's Arclight project.

Hailing from Gothenburg, Axel Backman aka 1991 debuted in late 2012 with cassette releases on our very own Astro:Dynamics label and the also-awesome Opal Tapes. His distinctive blend of hissing lo-fi production values and smuged new-age nostalgia won him comparisions with the likes of Oneohtrix Point Never, Boards of Canada and Thought Broadcast. His first flurry of releases was followed by a remix for Lukid on Actress's Werkdiscs, and a vinyl edition of his 'High-Tech High-Life' tape on the Boomkat Editions imprint.



Arclight is Werkdiscs' Lukid operating in partnership with Simon Lord (of Simian, Black Ghosts and Lord Skywave fame). The project made it's debut in early 2012 on Jacques Greene's Vase label with 'Holographic', followed in April 2013 with 'Tumble Down' and a show at Tate Modern's tanks installation. Their sound is a mish-mash of influences and inspirations, from psych folk to stripped-back, grime-inflected minimalism.
