William Joys channels characters that arouse suspicion regarding the endorsement of authenticity over ‘artificial’ construction. He performs through layers of subterfuge and becomes an object that embodies the prop, the stage and the costume, thereby promoting the very art of acting. He has exhibited and performed at Glasgow International, Kunstraum London, Kunsthalle Münster, MIT List Visual Arts Center, Modern Institute, MUMOK, Strange Field and the Legal Stage. He is a founding member of Villa Design Group, one half of Sartre 25 and currently part of the Conditions Studio Programme.
