Bristol-based Sophia Loizou is a producer and sonic artist whose work operates within sound system culture and electroacoustic composition. Central to her practice is an ongoing investigation of the interconnected nature of ecosystems and technology. Her work strives to capture the tension that binds these liminal states, seeking to envision a plurality of possible futures and re-imagined pasts.
This year, she featured on Houndstooth Records’ ‘In Death’s Dream Kingdom’ compilation release, whilst her latest release, ‘Irregular Territories’, a ‘staggering volley of concrète jungle metaphysics’, came out on Shapednoise’s Cosmo Rhythmatic label. Her previous albums, ‘Singulacra’ were on US label Kathexis, and ’Chrysalis’ on Astro:Dynamics in 2014, described by The Wire as ‘a gritty, heavily processed slab of dark ambient’.
