OTO Radio - Ahmed

Seymour Wright and pianist Pat Thomas often work and inhabit similar circles in London and the UK, and soon found they shared a mutual appreciation for the work of NYC bassist, oudist, composer, educator and philosopher Ahmed Abdul-Malik. When the two of them discovered Antonin Gerbal and Joel Grip were also interested in Malik's work, the four of them formed a quartet with which to imagine and reimagine some of Malik's tunes. OTOROKU has just released the latest LP from the quartet - Super Majnoon [East Meets West], and invited Seymour to Resonance FM to chat more about Malik and what might be thought about and around him today.
