This show is a great opportunity to get a taste of the Lithuanian sound art scene, this very diverse, yet close-knit music community. To experience this atmosphere of informal inclusiveness and thoughtful experimentation, as well as the performative spirit of Fluxus – the movement founded by the Lithuanian Jurgis Maciunas that has had a considerable influence on many contemporary Lithuanian artists.

Antanas Jasenka’s sound is intense, dynamic and multilayered, populated with diverse electronic sound objects - from glitch to soundscape. The composer has participated in a number of projects with such internationally acclaimed artists as Ralf Wehowsky, Jim O'Rourke, Brume, Achim Wollscheid, Toshiya Tsunoda, John Duncan, Ryoji Ikeda, John Watermann, Merzbow, The Hafler Trio, Artemiy Artemiev, and others. His music has been released by different labels in Russia, the USA, the Netherlands, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Belgium, England, France, Poland, and Lithuania.

Water is a soundscape created for Lithuania’s Rain House at Expo Zaragoza 2008.

NYC_001 is a graphic score in three parts for any instrument or device of sound transmission or formation by which it is possible to create audiovisual space in a real time. The piece becomes a non-ordinary play of sounds and sound dance.

Antanas Kucinskas (b. 1968) says: “I am an omnivorous parasite and make music, which feeds on existing music, grows at its expense and finally destroys it". Kcinskas’s works are characterized by a variety of genres, styles and techniques, stemming from modal scales, serial procedures as well as conceptual art, minimalism, DJ culture, and ideas from Fluxus. His music has always had something intrinsically theatrical about it. Since 1998 he has been musical director at the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre.

Lina Lapelyte works as a sound artist and composer, and in the last couple of years she has been actively involved in the London improvised music scene - using her prepared, electronically manipulated or just pure violin. She has collaborated with Douglas Benford, David Ryan, Arturas Bumsteinas, Leafcutter John, Edie Prevost, Anton Lukoszevieze, Peter Cusack, Enrico Glerean, Angharad Davies, and others.

Lina performed or her works were shown in the voice and nothing more (vanm) (London 09), Cut and Splice (London 08), the Inari Festival of Experimental Music (iFEM) (Ivalo 08, 09), Lithuanian ART 08 (Vilnius 08), Skanu Mezs (Riga 08), the Holland Festival (Amsterdam 07), Audio Art (Warsaw 06).

PAR is a composition for violin, electronics and environmental sound recordings.

ANTON LUKOSZEVIEZE (http://www.antonlukoszevieze.co.uk/)

Cellist Anton Lukoszevieze is one of the most diverse performers of his generation and is notable for his performances of avant-garde, experimental and improvised music. Anton has peformed at numerous international festivals: Maerzmusik, Donaueschingen, Wien Modern, GAS, Transart, Ultima, Borealis, Aangelica, etc. Deutschlandfunk, Berlin produced a radio portrait of him in September, 2003. Anton has also performed concerti with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra. Anton Lukoszevieze is founder and director of the ensemble Apartment House and a member of the radical noise group Zeitkratzer. Future projects in 2010-11 include a large-scale work for cello and live-electronics by Zbigniew Karkowski, Organ Safari at the Holland Festival with Arturas Bumsteinas, Stockhausen at Cut and Splice Festival and a Maciunas project at Wundergrund, Copenhagen.
