Recently formed in east London, TOM-MIX (the trio of Hanslip, Brice and Marsh) draw on their experiences of playing in jazz, fusion, improv and world forms to create an intense, improvised music. For this gig they'll be joined by flautist Neil Metcalfe, who may well lend a more chamber-y character to their music...

Mark Hanslip has been very active as a sideman on London's creative music scene over the last five years as a regular member of Loop Collective bands Outhouse (and its sister project Outhouse Ruhabi), Dave Manington Quartet and Alcyona's quintet, F-IRE Collective guitarist/composer Jonathan Bratoeff's new quartet, as well as

Brighton-based DJ/groove project Nostalgia 77 and percussionist Lekan Babalola's group. More surreally he has also played with Gladys Knight and Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers..

Olie Brice started playing bass in Manchester, studying with Steve Berry, and with post-rock band Our Beautiful Ridicuolous Plan, and with jazz/improv musicians including Phillip Marks and Graham Clark. He later established himself on the Bristol/Bath jazz scene, working with John Law, Nick Malcolm, Kevin Figes and others. Since moving to London in 2007 Olie has been playing with improvisers such as Ingrid Laubrock, Steve Noble, and Alexander Hawkins.

Tony Marsh has been a fixture on the London jazz and improv scene for many years, having been a member of composer Mike Westbrook's band, jazz-rock group Major Surgery, and recording and touring with saxophonists Mike Osborne, Elton Dean and Simon Picard. He currently plays regularly in trio formation with saxophone innovator Evan Parker and bassist John Edwards, blurring the lines between post-Coltrane jazz and free improvisation..
