accompanied by live music
Sushi, premium sake and sake cocktails from Akashi-Tai will be available through out the evening.
Dancers
Margaret Coldiron : trained as an actress at the Drama Centre, London and performed with the American Conservatory Theatre,
San Francisco Repertory and the National Shakespeare Company, among others. She has taught and directed at most of the major professional acting schools in the UK and at a number of universities in the US and UK. Over the last decade she has studied Balinese Topéng dance-drama and mask making with Ida Bagus Alit, AA Gedé Ngurah and I Nyoman Budiartha in Bali and continues her work in London with Ni Madé Pujawati. She has also done field research on masked performance in India, Sri Lanka and Japan and performs and teaches regularly in the UK and abroad. She is a member of Lila Cita Gamelan and Lila Bhawa Dance Company and appeared with them at the Bali Arts Festival in 2006. She is the author of Trance & Transformation of the Masked Actor in Japanese Noh and Balinese Dance Drama (Edwin Mellen Press 2004). Recent work includes the AHRC project "The Body & the Mask in Ancient Theatre Space" using digital re-creations of ancient Greek and Roman masks with living mask performers in virtual ancient theatres. In 2010 she will be performing Balinese Topeng in theatre festivals in Greece and Estonia.
Miki Hoei : Graduated from Woman’s college of physical education (Physical education on faculity of Japan) in 2008. She has been living her life as a dancer since she was 3 years old. Specializes in classical dance, modern dance, contemporary technique and contact improvisation.
Awarded as a ‘Best Dance Performer Prize’ in MAZDANSA13 and ‘rising artist of dance’ in Aichi Prefecture. Her solo dance piece “LINE” had also won the July Prize Award and MASDANZA Award at the Yokohama Dance Collection (Solo×Duo) 2008 in Japan.
Which gave her opportunity to perform internationally through Europe and Japan. In 2007, She had toured around Eastern Europe with Kakuya Ohashi and ‘Nomade~s’ dance company. Performed at ‘Roma Europe Festival 2007’, ‘J-Dance special solos ’ in France. Recently moved to London to explore her career in U.K.(2009)
Fashion show Designer Kumiko Tani: Graduated BA Hons Fashion Design with Marketing at Central saint martin’s College of Art and design. Her 'newspaper collection' was selected for a special show then it was lead to drawn attention by magazines & galleries in Uk &Japan to feature the collection. Currently she's working as a design director in a theatre production company 'Unfashion Events'. Also she held workshop for children 'How to create cloths with eco materials' as a part of eco week at St George's Cathedral Catholic Primary School 2008. The concept of 'newspaper collection' is “Everyday an enormous amount of free newspapers are distributed throughout London. Although in the day those papers are valuable for people, the next day they are just “wasted paper”.Why not wrap yourself using the recently ”wasted newspaper”. This collection is deeply connected with the city and people. "
Musicians
Gabriel Prokofiev: Born in London to a Russian father and English mother, Gabriel Prokofiev studied music and composition at both Birmingham and York universities. In 1998, he won a composers residency in Seattle at the Bourges International Concours of Electroacoustic Music, and also produces dance music under a variety of different guises. When not occupied in the running of his independent record label and club night Nonclassical, which aims to explore the spaces between classical and “not classical” music, he also receives frequent commissions as a composer, and his works have been played by prestigious performers such as the Elysian Quartet and the Tate Ensemble on BBC Radio and TV, Classic FM, Kultur Radio Germany and at various international venues.
Ewan Campbell: studied musical composition at Cambridge and King's College London, where he is now engaged in doctoral research under the supervision of Silvina Milstein and George Benjamin. His early musical education was based around instrumental performance, primarily on cello and double bass which he now combines with his compositional practise to improvise and compose on his instruments, often in collaboration with other artists. In 2009 Ewan co-founded and toured in the UK with the Tangent Composer's Collective, an ensemble of performing composers that not only perform each others compositions but also collaboratively compose music as an ensemble. They share the ambition of extending contemporary classical music outside of the normal concert hall setting and it's associated audience. Since 2006 Ewan has worked with a number of theatre and dance companies including the Pembroke Players (Japan tour 2007), Queen's Contemporary Dance Group and Millpond Media. Currently he is working on a commission for Katie Green and the Cambridge Contemporary Dance Group and (as a member of Tangent) has been performing Hold me until you break with the physical theatre company Bottlefed. He has taken dance collaboration to an extreme in the piece The Double Bass Dances (a trio for dancer, double bass and double bassist) where choreography and composition completely combine.

Koichi Nizato: Remarkable as solo Guitarist from UK based Japanese-British band, Screaming Tea Party(Stolen Records) But once he is out of the band, Explosion of sounds with vintage Gus-mask, this is what he is.
He creates sound scape like a fantasy story hearing from a old radio with some breaking noise.
Taigen Kawabe: One man and his electric guitar, Taigen’s sound based performance work begins with himself finding a calm trance like state that gradually evolves into deeper chaos, where he emerges into a kind of self-purification. Taigen graduated this year from the BA Sound Art and Design course at London College of Communication. He is also the lead singer of London-based Japanese psychedelic rock band, Boningen.
Kei Suzuki: Based in South London, Kei aims to “fill up space with the delicate roar of chaos” through visual and sound performance. He uses electric and acoustic instruments, try to capture the wave of "the new sound of nature"= noise with improvised performance. Currently exploring visual art at Goldsmiths College.
He is also a member of Micro Wave Meditation a group performing experimental soundscapes and moments of ritual.
Kate Wakeling: Kate studied music at Cambridge University and recently completed a PhD on Balinese music at the School of Oriental and African Studies. Kate has studied Balinese music and dance since 2003, and spent a year researching and studying performance in Bali from 2006-7. As well as working as a classical flautist, Kate performs regularly in London as a Balinese musician and dancer, including performances in LSO St Luke’s, Dartington College of Arts, Shunt and the Groucho Club. In Spring 2010 she will study Carnatic flute and Bharatanatyam in South India having been awarded a Finzi Scholarship.
