‘The Stravinsky duo’

A welcome return for Pheto and Noble, after their stunning debut concert last October and a chance to hear Stravinsky (Firebird suite and Rite of Spring) interpreted by Howe and Butterworth.

“Pheto kept erupting into free improvisation- splintering chords, earth quake low sounds , reflective trances and torrential upper register ripples”. (John Fordham-The Guardian).

“ An engaging mix of jazz time , free –rock and abstract improv, Noble is one of the countries most creative drummers” (Guardian)

“ Noble eventually opened out into an astonishing solo, hitting the snare with a small cymbal instead of a stick, and then phasing stick blows to the free floating cymbal against the sound of its own impact against the drumhead to achieve an odd percussion- synth noise” (The Guardian)

“ Dylan Howe makes it new. The way he plays it, its as if Be-bop was still hot and wet from its Harlem womb-he plays time from the heart” ( Robert Wyatt)
