After 2 years, Glaswegians Remember Remember and London based Clorinde
come back to Cafe OTO for another unique night of instrumental music,
minimalist composition, free form experimentation and various permutations
in between.
REMEMBER REMEMBER
“an hypnotic musical atmosphere pitched somewhere between a funeral and a
magic show”.
Based in Glasgow, Scotland Remember Remember originally the solo project
of Graeme Ronald (ex-Multiplies, ex-The Royal We) has been playing
elaborately staged shows in and around the city for the past few years.
2007 saw R.R start to collaborate with additional musicians and the
results have been some of the most epic-sounding and ambitious music to
emerge from the city in a long time. As a result of these collaborations
Rock Action released a critically acclaimed self-titled debut in 2008.
Described by NME as ‘a sensitive debut of epic proportions’ in their 8/10
review whilst Q highlighted it as ‘an accomplished debut’.
Remember Remember present as much Modern Classical pieces as they do
something that could simply be tagged ‘drone’ or ‘post-rock’. If you’re a
fan of the likes of Panda Bear, Mice Parade or Animal Collective along
with artists such as Philip Glass, Brian Eno and Yann Tiersen then you
really should take the time to check them out.

CLORINDE
“Their music is a really luscious minimalist style that recalls Steve
Reich / Arnold Dreyblatt / etc. Very cool and beautiful stuff with
everything sounding like it's in its right place.” - Fat Cat Records
“The imaginative and beautifully played arrangements do yield some
exquisite moments.” - The Wire
"The music of their first album, completely instrumental, it’s an
Hypothesis of Avant Folk with ecstatic and contemplative tones, held in
balance between classical structures, traditional influences and
performances that push towards improvisation."- Blow Up
Clorinde is an instrumental avant-folk project composed by multi
instrumentalist Andrea Salvatici, Simone Salvatici and David Harris.
Formed in 2005 in the city of Glasgow by Italian brothers Simone and
Andrea, Clorinde has been producing music based on a minimalist approach
towards repetition, melodies, rhythm and sounds, resulting in beautiful
fragile balance between tight cyclic structures and free form improvisation.
They make extensive use of acoustic and electric instruments (banjos,
guitars , vibraphones, African kalimbas, zithers, clarinet, bass, electric
organ, various drums and percussions) extrapolated from their context and
processed thru electronic devices and amplification, bringing an
enchanting flavor of rithmic psychedelia mathematical post-folk with
exciting structures and surprising passages of minimal introspection.
