OTO PROJECT SPACE // Yoni Silver / Tom Wheatley / Mark Sanders

No Longer Available

First public encounter for the new trio of bass clarinettist Yoni Silver, double bassist Tom Wheatley and drummer Mark Sanders.

Three braided voices expose the cohesion of a wide spectrum, if organic.

YONI SILVER / bass clarinettist

Yoni Silver is a multidisciplinary musician, bass clarinetist, saxophonist, violinist, composer, improvisor and performer. An active player in the Israeli contemporary, noise and free improv scenes, Silver has performed with musicians such as Birgit Uhler, Damon Smith, Alex Drool, Wolfgang Fuchs, Steve Noble, Grisha Shakhnes and others. He is a member of the International Hyperion Ensemble lead by Iancu Dumitrescu and Ana-Maria Avram, and is also an avid solo performer.

As composer and arranger he has written for and collaborated with Ilan Volkov in Tectonics Tel Aviv 2013, the Israeli Contemporary Players, the Israeli Philharmonic, the Tel Aviv Soloist Ensemble, radical documentary director Avi Mugrabi, artist Gilad Ratman for the venice biennale 2013 etc. Silver's instrumental style is a combination of an explorative approach towards the sonic capabilities of the instrument, with an aesthetic drawing on noise and sound-evolution oriented approaches such as spectralism.

TOM WHEATLEY / double bass

Tom Wheatley is a Double Bass and Electric Bass player based in, and native to, London. He plays to open the bass – sonically and physically, musically and surgically. He is actively involved in the new music community of London, playing with Seymour Wright, Hebronix, Eddie Prévost, John Edwards, Cynthia, Paal Nilssen-Love, Guillaume Viltard and many others.

MARK SANDERS / drums & percussion

Mark Sanders has been acclaimed as "the most exciting, original and overwhelmingly powerful drummer alive" (Steve Reynolds, Jazz Corner) and his precise and propulsive drumming has graced projects with, to name but a few, Evan Parker, Jah Wobble, Broadcast, Agusti Fernandez, Christian Marclay, Matthew Shipp, John Butcher, Roswell Rudd, Henry Grimes and Otomo Yoshihide.
